| 28 July 2008 | After several days of intense grooming and caring for these beautiful dogs, they have all moved from AHRCO HQ onto foster and forever homes. All but Michael are spoken for although I doubt his foster Mom will ever let him go. He is sooooo sweet and has those soulful eyes that really melt one’s heart. Oliver and Michael (2yrs) are brothers who are very bonded to each other. Now that we have separated them, we expect to see some signs of depression from both, but hopefully it will be soon overcome with lots of love from new families. Previously called Flash, brother to Oliver (Dash). Michael is our special needs boy. He did not want to come out of his crate on arrival. We had to dismantle his crate to get him out. He arrived with a turned out foot that I suspect is a growth plate injury. Michael is in foster care with an experienced affie person who is a registered vet tech. Michael is scheduled for an initial examination at The Ohio State University Veterinary Hospital on Wednesday. Michael is having the most difficulty adjusting to his new life. He is totally freaked out by traffic, people, noise and anything that moves. He has however adapted well to his foster home where he was welcomed by his 4 new feline companions. He shows no sign of wanting to course the cats, and has quickly adjusted to life inside the house, and was found snoozing on the bed after the first day. Outside is another matter. Foster Mom (Sue) is only able to walk him a short distance before he panics. He was much less nervous walking at 6 a.m. than later in the day. On Sunday afternoon, Sue put Michael in the car and drove to her parent’s neighborhood (about 1 mile away), having previously arranged to meet up with her Dad and their Affies Judah and Brock. With the introductions over, Michael walked better with the other dogs around him and was happy to go visit his ‘grandma and grandpa”. (MA) | ||||
